Van Prep for Our Next Trip

Heading off to Glacier, Banff, and beyond — the Pacific Northwest is calling! 🌲🏔️

We’re planning to spend more time off-grid, sleeping in the van wherever we land — Boondocking style! Our main goal was to make sure we had enough power to run the essentials (fridge, AC or heat) for more than six hours without hookups.

So, we took Bessie to ABC Upfitters in Elkhart, Indiana, where Scott and his team were incredible. They installed two new 460-amp batteries and dual alternators. Turns out, our old alternator was pretty fried — a disaster waiting to happen. They truly saved us.

Now we’re ready to hit the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper with no worries. We can stay wild for 4–5 days at a time without losing power!

Also, big shoutout to Boca Tint & Audio — Juan and Jose tinted the van windows to keep the summer heat out. It made a huge difference.

Bessie is officially an off-grid beast. Bring on the mountains!
