Bryce Canyon National Park
Utah
Bryce Canyon, isn’t a canyon- it’s a series of natural ampitheatres carved into the edge of a high plateau, filled with towering hoodoos, bright red cliffs, and surreal rock spires. Its smaller and more navigable than other Utah Parks. Famous for largest collection of hoodoos in the world, they’re bizarre eroded rock colums that look like sandstone gauradians. The 18-mile scenic road offers more than a dozen viewpoints like Inspiration Point, Bryce Point and Rainbow Point. Drive to the top (Rainbow Point) and work your way back so you’re always on the side closest to the views.
Stay at The Lodge at Bryce Canyon or Bryce Canyon City right outside the park: www.brycecanyonforever.com brycecanyoncityut.gov www.nps.gov/brca campgrounds 877.444.6777 near Bryce Ampitheatre (North & Sunset- (first-come first-served). We wandered toward our next park and camped in Torrey, UT at Wonderland RV Park (44 south SR 12) - they were super nice, we got a shady spot and a list of restaurants nearby. Feelin’ a little ‘salty’- craving chips, salsa & tequila we ate at La Cueva Restaurante Mexican at East Hwy 24 across the street and then ‘slept it off’!
