Yosemite National Park

California

We left Big Sur and cruised toward Watsonville, quick stop at roadside stand -Sweet Strawberries Sweet Cherries Stand - just before Pacheco Pass- then it was onto Route 152 heading for something ledgendary: Yosemite the OG of national parks. Entered via El Portal and Arch Rock and every turn was a postcard: Inspiration Point, El Capitain, Bridalveil Falls, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Glacier Point and the towering Sequoias of Mariposa Grove-each more jaw-dropping than the last …. You’ll want to drive the scenic loop for epic overlooks, but to actually experience Yosemite, you’ve gotta park, hike, and explore. The park’s shuttle system is your best friend—parking is limited and crowds are real. Just remember your shuttle stop! 🎒 Want a challenge? Half Dome is the beast: 10–12 hour round trip, 4,000 ft elevation gain, and cables to haul yourself up. For something slightly less hardcore, watch climbers scale El Capitan—or try a beginner class with local outfitters. Budget two full days to soak it all in. Yosemite isn’t a drive-by; it’s an experience.
